Stinging Insects Control
Wasps, hornets, and yellowjackets are among the most aggressive pests Cincinnati homeowners encounter — and unlike most insects, disturbing their nest can trigger an immediate, coordinated attack. West side Cincinnati neighborhoods see heavy stinging insect activity from late April through October, with nests appearing under eaves, in soffits, along fence lines, in wall voids, and around backyard structures. Delhi Pest Control provides safe, fast stinging insect removal for homeowners throughout the west side — we know where they nest, how to treat them, and how to do it without putting your family at risk.
Stinging Insects We Treat in Cincinnati
Yellowjackets
The most aggressive and dangerous stinging insect on the west side. Yellowjackets are highly territorial and will sting repeatedly — unlike honey bees, they don’t lose their stinger. They’re particularly aggressive in late summer and fall when colony populations peak and food sources become scarce. Yellowjackets often nest in the ground, inside wall voids, under deck boards, and in other concealed locations that make them hard to find and dangerous to treat without professional equipment. They can both sting and bite — biting to grip before delivering a sting.
Bald-Faced Hornets
Large black-and-white hornets that build distinctive paper nests — the gray, football-shaped structures you often see hanging from tree branches, under eaves, or attached to siding. Bald-faced hornets are aggressive defenders of their nest and will sting repeatedly if disturbed. Nests can contain several hundred workers by late summer. Never attempt to knock down an active bald-faced hornet nest — call us instead.
Paper Wasps
The most common stinging insect in Cincinnati, identifiable by their distinctive open-comb nests with visible cells — built under eaves, on porch ceilings, behind shutters, and in door frames. Paper wasps are less aggressive than yellowjackets or hornets and generally won’t sting unless the nest is directly threatened — but nests near doors and high-traffic areas make encounters inevitable. We remove active nests and treat to prevent rebuilding in the same location.
Mud Daubers
Solitary wasps that build small tube-like mud nests on walls, under eaves, and in garages. Mud daubers are not aggressive and rarely sting, but their nests are unsightly and attract other pests. We remove nests and treat the area to discourage re-nesting.
A Note on Honey Bees
Honey bees are not on the endangered species list, but they are important pollinators that we treat differently from other stinging insects. If you suspect a honey bee swarm or established hive, contact a qualified local beekeeper before applying any insecticides — many beekeepers will relocate established colonies for free. Delhi Pest Control can help you identify whether you’re dealing with honey bees or a more aggressive species if you’re unsure.

Our Stinging Insect Control Process
Inspection
We locate all active nests on the property — including concealed nests inside wall voids and underground. Proper identification of the species determines the safest and most effective treatment approach.
Treatment
We apply professional-grade insecticide directly to the nest using appropriate equipment for the nest type and location — ensuring the colony is fully eliminated including the queen. Treatment is timed for early morning or evening when most colony members are present and less active.
Nest Removal
Once the colony is eliminated we remove accessible nests to prevent other insects from using them as harborage and to discourage new colonies from establishing in the same location.
Prevention Treatment
We apply residual treatment to common nesting sites — eaves, soffits, deck rails, and fence lines — to deter new colonies from establishing in the same areas through the rest of the season.
